oh how i've slacked

oh my word it has been so long and i have oh-so-many things to tell you.
i can't even decide where to start.

you all would be very proud of me, i have been Super Productive these days (let's hope, eh?! less than three weeks away now!)

i think the three week mark crept up on both scott and i. i mean, we knew it was close, and even getting closer, but i think one day i was minding my own business and it was 2 months away still, and then the very next day i woke up and found out it's only three weeks away. madness i say.

wellll...let me start blabbing news and we'll see where this goes.

i found the perfect shoes! red, cute, and claaaassssyy. i took my dress to the seamstress with said shoes of cuteness. she was adorable but spoke i think 14 words of english, 17 on a good day. they included but were not limited to, "you move arms ok?" making big rowing gestures, which...heh...phew! good thing she thought of THAT because our first dance involves some serious Fred Astaire arm movements, so...good save.

here are the shoes shoes shoes

they look plastic latexy because of the flash but they are satin

i like the red and the ruffle. oh fun

so that is that.

next, scott and i got the keys to our place. WOOT. and we've spent the past 2 days painting like craazy. here are before and afters~

Before:

bedroom that now has new carpet and different paint.

living room in which we kept that same sage green because it is lovely

mildly retina numbing blue. a must go.

slightly took over the little kitchen with it's pizazz.

After:

Blue be-gone! it is now a soft grey/blue with one panel of dark grey/blue where once an intense red lived.

sliiightly different angle
excuse the bad lighting, we finished at dark (no power yet so time is precious)

he's cute but so tired. we worked hard.

i have moved in some of our gifts from showers and some of my own things. wonderful wonderful feeling.

we also spent some time this weekendish helping some good friends join our side of the dating world:

congratulations dear dano and charlotte. we are soo happy. and you are so cute.

i have also:
- figured out our exact drink order for bevmo but refuse to use their delivery service because it costs $200. no thank you, i can carry it.
- finished almost all of the favors (thanks mom and nanny)
- working on place "cards"
- ordered all rental items and had consultant come measure our reception site
- tried hard not to think of the 15 thousand other things i need to really and truly be thinking about

ok, speaking of those 15 thousand other things, i really must get back to them so i can check some other big things off the list.

much love and t-minus 19 days!!

Holler!

WE DID IT!

scott and i have found a place to LIVE. and we love it.
this is neither the Like one nor the Love one. but it sure is fabulous.

washer/dryer inside our home, beautiful hardwood floors, fireplace, cute cute cute, wonderful location for us (less than 15 minutes from both our jobs). it is small, 650 square feet, but so cute that it's perfect for a first place.

and i can paint it. any any any colors i want.
oh the happiness.

i.e. this blue. must go.

this bedroom is getting new carpet tomorrow, and a makeover from me.

we'll take better pictures tomorrow when we sign. and when we start painting!!

i can't even believe it.

oh the choices

ok, i am in the middle of shoe shopping. very close behind in priority, scott and i are apartment shopping.

the decisions.

so i have two shoes from dsw that are super cute. give me your thoughts:
there are
these in red

or these in black

both cute. both schnazzy. but i do like the idea of the red peeking out from under my dress. so fun.

as far as housing goes. scott and i have a conundrum.

we found Place We Like and Place We Love. sounds like an easy choice so far -- but there's always a twist.

Like started at $1150, it's 2br, 1 1/2 bath townhouse, washer dryer shared by three other townhouses. one parking spot. very good size and plenty of storage space.
is now priced at $1125

Love started at $1450 or $1475 i believe. very very cute. inside washer/dryer. 2 br 2bath townhouse. 2 parking spaces. very private.
is now priced at $1395

both are in point loma and both close to scott's work. not too far from mine either.

so here is our game plan. both are managed by the same people. they have both been on the market for 2 months now, or close to. i think we will call them and offer them less for Love. it's worth a shot. they might be in the mood for bargaining if no one else makes an offer for another week or two. if that just goes nowhere or someone else grabs the place, then we'll jump on Like. maybe offer them $1100 instead.

sigh.

so many choices to make. all have fun results though.

45 days

alrighty, just a quicky update.

wedding invitations have ALL been mailed out! glory hallelujah. just sent the last ones in the mail early this morning. hip hip hooray. however, i believe there are about 30 ish people that will receive HAND MADE envelopes. that's right peeps, scott and i will stop at nothing to get things done and be creative while doing it!

bridal shower number one - check. my auntie steph did a phenomenal job. phenomenal. scott and i had a blast just hanging out with people we love and being spoiled by them.

i am on the hunt for shoooes! if you see a cute red or yellow or something fun pair, send them my way! (a picture or link, not an actual pair of shoes)
i must find shoes so that i can get my dress altered so that i can wear it on my wedding day!

all wedding surprises and fun plans are coming along fantastically. our secret project is still on the move and turning out marvelously. loads of work though.

scott came up with another secret plan that makes me SO happy. i just can't wait to see how it turns out. jeesh, why am i blogging only to say that i have so many secrets and i can't tell you about them??

who knows.

well, on that note, i have some things to do today. scheduling is upon me!!

drama? what? nooo....

well this week we had just the eensiest bit of drama concerning our envelopes. we had ordered certain ones offline that we really liked, however, turns out they are not coming in until MONDAY. oh heck no.
so last night scott and i ran to a handful of different stores trying to find something that will be just as nice but much much faster. i was really supposed to have these suckers out last Saturday. woops. but glory hallelujah, we found some cute ones. and no one will even know. well...except you now. but these other ones are very cute too. and the late envelopes will be used for very nice thank you cards. i am a fan of thank yous.

today, i ran around after work in pursuit of two things
1) good postage stamps
2) more envelopes!!

it was exhausting let. me. tell. you. first of all i was in holly's car since mine is taking his sabbatical - and the very sad thing about hers is that it no longer pushes out any AC. second, i got off work around 1:20 and had to have her car back to her by 3, so time crunch. i drove to two different staples (got lost once) and the post office.

at the post office the kind young man was very sad that he had such a limited supply of stamps, however, lucky for me, the second of his 2 options were exactly the ones that i had wanted. in a stroke of genius i whipped out an invitation stuffed envelope and handed it to him asking if it would take one or two stamps. he proceeded to MAN-HANDLE my poor invite, bending it a little and squishing it in his thumbs. nothing i couldn't smooth away, but still. the heart palpitations i'm telling you.
i think i am a far distant long way from ever being dubbed a "bride-zilla" but i have to defend this one. scott and i spent a lot of time on those things. this is not just a cutely wrapped water bill buddy! that is a limited edition, scott + heidi wedding invitation!

i think the minor horror on my face must have communicated some sort of physical pain to him because he gently put it back on the counter and said, "uh, two stamps i think...there's uh. there seems to be a bump in it" yes there's a bump! it's twine! who knew that putting a piece of twine in your envelope would cost you an extra 20 cents?

no matter, i am simply irritated because i am sweating through my clothes and need twice the stamps i thought i did. and my one invitation now needs therapy. it's ok.

the post office ended up actually being the only productive part of the frantic outing since neither of the two staples i went to carried those same envelopes. i think scott's going to stop at one more before he comes over though, so i'm crossing my fingers.

sigh, on the bright side, i got 30 of them out today and my socal bridal shower invitations as well! woot.

i was just about to post the said bridal shower invitations when i realized that the girls have not gotten them yet and in the off chance that someone looks at this, that might ruin the fun.
so this is all i'll post for now:

not as exciting in a picture, i'll have to say.

more pictures next week when i'm sure they've all been delivered. but i was quite happy with how they turned out.

in any case, this rambling needs to end. i need to prep more invites in expectation of more envelopes!

onward and upward!

let the race begin!

that's kind of what i feel like now. it is ... wait let me grab my calendar ... 57 days till the wedding. sorry, you can't tell the time lapse there, but i got a little distracted and started filling in my calendar with other things i had forgotten. so that "wait let me grab my calendar" was really like 20 minutes of waiting.

my calendar is filling up so fast, weekends are fleeing like it's their last hope, i have lists of things i need to get done or nail down by certain dates ~ most important of which are the invitations.
scott texted me this morning and let me know that karrie is dropping them off at the office today so i have some serious ants in mah pants to see them, hold them, play with them, and package them nicely.

UNfortunately and yet, very fortunately at the same time, we had to order our envelopes through another website that we didn't really expect to do. unfortunate because they will not come until monday. cryyying. but fortunately because we really like the envelopes that we're getting now. i think they will be perfect. ahh. it will be ok, we'll get them out early next week and everything will be a-ok.

last thing before i go hit that to do list for the weekend - scott and i worked on our wedding website last night. it is awwwesome. we make one freaking good team. we did steal some graphics from another genius (thanks ben) but with the limited time that we have, we can't make everything ourselves :}

can't wait for you guys to see it. should be up around monday or tuesday. woot woot.

alrighty, time to hit the planning!!

ps. this picture makes me really happy:

weekend anyone?

i believe we are now at 65 days and counting. holy guacamole. i mean really now. everybody just hang on a second.

well, i do not have work today or tomorrow so i am dedicating myself to Getting Things Done.
in the spirit of such an endeavor, i have begun making lists. i do love a good list. i made sure to balance some things out (fun/no fun at all, time consuming/i could do it with my toes, running around/sitting and trying to 'focus'...etc...)
despite said list, my mind is still running in tight little circles. i am sitting on the couch, looking around at my menagerie of wedding related papers, notebooks (i also love a good note book), seating charts, and how-to-books, and it is increasingly difficult for me to focus on just one thing at a time rather than jump into creating This, and then wait, no, i was going to make a budget for This, oh hang on, wasn't i in the middle of mapping out the ceremony? no, i was definitely researching marriage licenses.

OK.

here's the game plan: i am going to get off here, because this is really not making any of my little To Do boxes fill up with check marks. sipping coffee and browsing my favorite blogs is not (despite common belief) getting me much of anywhere. but first, i WILL share one of my to do-s with you all. i need to pick a style of cake that i would like to show holly. on my cute list it says that i need to pick four pictures to show her. alright. let's pick.

he's cute huh?
so simple, but really just so classy.

now she is lovely. i really am not all about the traditional cake
but, i do like this very simplified version of it.

now hear me out. i adore the idea of maybe three little square fellows like this
all on different floating tiers. a little like this:

but not ugly. just artsy. theeen, have cupcakes around? i do like cupcakes.
cupcakes could potentially be scattered or on something like this:

just a thought.

ok, moving on with the cakers~

right along with that square idea is this

something about her makes me go 'ahhhh'

or she is nice also!

i appreciate the texture on it. makes it interesting without too much hoo-ha.

and i think we can conclude that i like the simple look. simple and artistic and i am a happy duck.

scott has tried to be a help in this decision but to little avail. i don't think he cares a whole whole lot about it, which is ok. when i do ask for a yes or no, he very kindly will let me know what he thinks :]

alright, i need to get cracking on other things on the list now. if anyone has an opinion or a favorite regarding the cakin matter, please speak up!

we're thinking red velvet cake by the by. not sure if that's all that relevant to the look of the outside, but i suppose it lets you know that we can't do marzipan smooth finishes. which is a-ok with me.

alright, alright! i'm leaving.
tschuss!

it's been a while

my apologies for slacking a little :]
74 days until the wedding! and so much to be done. there will be plenty of opportunities to update within these next two months. i don't doubt that.

i have been working on some projects and have some more scheming and brewing going down. muahaha. but i can't tell you yet. i don't want to spoil everything. and although it is so hard for me to keep fun secrets, i think the end results will seal my lips well enough.

but i do have to tell you that our invitation packets are coming along be-a-utifully.

in other news - scott and i spent some of our glorious long weekend up in laguna with good friends and we happened to have a chance to check out a few places for the beginning of the honeymoon. i would say the top two in the running are the montage and casa laguna. and i think we might be leaning more towards casa laguna. it's a little more personal, and would be way fun to come back to years from now on an anniversary.

check it out

ok, front - cute

award winning breakfast that you may eat at any one of their patio tables located throughout their secret garden-like grounds. likin it.

the rooms - soo nice.

how could you refuse with a room like this??

do you see my secret garden analogy?

so i guess when i say that i'm leaning, maybe i really mean that i really want to stay at THIS place and i'm not even going to bother posting pictures of the montage.

the montage is like, where james bond would stay. but we're more interesting and personable than james bond. and we have more unique names too. not to mention we're less skanky. well the new james bond was pretty awesome...but not the point.
besides when i'm 35, 45 and 55 i don't want to go back to the hotel that sean connery stayed at in goldfinger. i want to go somewhere unique and fun.

well enough chit chatting. i have things to do! colds to get over! ncis episodes to watch!

champagne tasting...

...should be on everyone's list of Things To Do Regularly.
my grandparents, being exactly who they are, have now become regulars at mille fleurs (amazing since they live 456 miles from here) and in this process, have become good friends with one of the waiters. this waiter now is my family's designated waiter. again, only my grandparents.
turns out, steve (said mille fleurs watier), also works at bevmo. so last night the fam traipsed over to the restaurant and whilst eating scheduled a time to champagne taste today.

so this morning we went to breakfast at the naked cafe. yuuum.
then we went over to bevmo where steve met us and promptly made my day.

here is the wonderful man

not only did we get to enjoy bubblies before 11am, but our favorite ended up coming WAY under our budget. phenomenal.

the mommy and myself

auntie jen and nanny-son

it was a fun, but exhausting day. i promptly fell asleep on the couch at 2 and slept for what felt like a day.

more giant check marks down. phew. and much more to come.

busy busy

we are busy busy bees this weekend. some of my family is down (although i am sorely missing some of the other women folk of the myers type) - therefore wedding stuff is in full blast!

you will be sooo proud to hear that we made our wedding invitations!!! they are almost complete and ready to be sent to the printers - AND they are just OH-SO-Perfect. i mean really. i couldn't have asked for a better realization of what i wanted. it suits us so very well and i can't wait for everyone to see...but i will resist posting a copy because it needs to be a surprise!
there are still a few more things we need to finish before we can have them printed. rsvp postcard and map. you'll die over the map too. i'm so excited.

in other notes, check out my tiny flowers!

and the rose that scott gave me a while ago is flourishing. and this one is yellow! how fun. beatrice, back in action and with flair!

cute little buds, no?

and totally unrelated to flowers, scott and i went up and hung out with some of our very best friends last weekend and hit up disneyland for some fun. a fantastic day if you ask me. which you didn't...but it was, trust me.
that's a good looking bride, groom, groomsman, and bridesmaid if you ask me. which again...i guess you really didn't. but you should have.

the rest of this weekend is full of brunching, flower hunting, plate rental picking, and champagne tasting. i am very glad that i am handing over the flower arranging to my soon-to-be mother in-law and sister in-law. that will be quite the weight off my shoulders. one less thing to be anal about. woot :) all in all, i feel like things are coming together very very nicely.

till the next update - tschus!

Thursday, August 20, 2009

that is it....

...i'm doing it. you just can't stop me, so don't even try. i am bound and determined to make this invitation thang Happen. you can tempt me all you want with your sunshine, NCIS marathons, yogurt runs, and naps! i won't be deterred! so.....take that!

here are some of my thoughts so far/things and designs that caught my eye. let me know thoughts on the matter.

i adore these colors, but maybe with a less flower-y feel

again with the flowers, but you can't tell me that invitation's not fun.

can you find the theme here? yes, i think i'm really attracted to the long and thin invitation. so...not square. so fun. how much more exciting is it to get a rectangular letter than a square one? a lot more. that's your answer. unless of course it's like a bill or something in a boring, white rectangular envelope, which is not exciting at all. but then again maybe it's a handwritten letter which is in fact exciting again. and square might just be a birthday card that generically says, Happy Birthday, You're not Getting Older, You're Getting Better. which is nice for like a day, and then you just have a card that you don't know what to do with...yes, i think about these things :]
back to the image --- i love on this one how the numbers run right off the page, that feels so nice. adds some visual interest.

this was just one run to warwicks with the camera to get some inspiration. scott likes them all...fortunately i think scott and i have very very similar taste so that makes things about a billion times easier (and way more fun).

scott is gone this weekend to the coolest nerd event of the year, so i must must be productive. and what better to do than the very thing we've been putting off? haa.

alright ~ no distractions! no deterrents! i will beat this if it's the rast fing i do!

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

almost my bedtime

in all of my "researching" (as i like to label it), some of the things that get me the most excited are wonderfully created rooms in a cozy and unique looking house. there's nothing quite like a beautiful and fluffy white bed with gorgeous and clean colors all around. gets me every time. i start to wonder (and scheme) about how our first place will be...as i'm starting to think about my own Pillow of Goodness that i'm about to go visit, i couldn't help throwing these pictures up for you all to see.

i Love the clean but bright design of this bedroom. and that bed is about ready for me to practice my swan dive on.

come on. how could you possibly resist this loft?? the trees all around, the beautiful windows, and that bed. i need it. as my cousin would say, i Like it, i Love it, i Must Have it.

ok, nobody get any goofy idears. but i did love the concept and thus-ly bookmarked that page. maybe a little harsh/creepy for a baby, but you could pick up that idea and run very well with it. in any case, i think that teddy bear on the trundle just called my name. no more wedding shtuff for me tonight. i'm ready to shnooze.

i'll write more about actual wedding stuff later, i promise.
goodnight :]

One giant step for wedding plans!

scott and i found a ceremony site!!! Hip Hip Hooray!

lomas santa fe country club, right off the 5. i loved everything about it except that it was a smidge windy...er breezy. but i will start praying about that now :) no wind no wind no wind!

i feel the greatest sense of relief. ahh, now i can think about all the fun stuff and let my mind freely think of new and fun ideas. i'm going to let myself be as creative as i want and then narrow down my choices to what really fits our styles.

my next big project is invitations. half of that is fun, half is a little stressful. i like thinking about how we want them to look, how they'll reflect us and our wedding...so fun.

in other news, scott and i registered at crate and barrel on sunday. we had a blast. while bed bath and beyond was a little overwhelming and tiring, crate and barrel was all fun. they open their doors to couples only and have stations of food and drinks (coffee and mimosas) and a few representatives from some of the manufacturers to help explain differences, pros and cons of their merchandise. we had fun just looking at glasses and salad bowls, grill brushes, plates, and comforters and deciding what we liked.

this week however is all work work work. scott has some side projects that he needs to get done and i have plenty to be doing myself so we are buckling down for now. which is what i should be doing now :)

Saturday, August 1, 2009

being productive

today scotto and i are spending the day working. we're crackin down! he has some side job to do for someone from work and i have endless web searching and surfing to catch up on :]

the weekend has started out as very promising ~ yesterday we woke up at the butt crack of dawn to go water skiing with jus, ashley, and thomas. loads of fun (although i did not ski. my back was bugging me and i was deathly afraid that i would face plant and throw it more out of whack - so i played photographer for the day) i'll load some pictures so everyone can see how beautiful/fun/hilarious it was.

just before, i got to talk with robin and catch up on life. always good. and last night i dedicated a good chunk of hours to hang out with jen chiu. so good for my soul.

scott went racing at qualcom with romin this morning. now he is convinced that he needs an 80's speed racer. he asked if he could get one and i told him he can get an 80's mobile if i can get a vintage motorcycle to zip around on. he then remembered that he already has an 80's car :)

now we are stationed at starbucks, willing ourselves to have a truly productive day. however before i can go on, i have to report - there is a man behind me that is a 'professional blogger/tweeter'. highly distracting as well as saddening to the general human race. this, to me, has to be the most pitiful yet self centered 'job' i have heard of yet. it wouldn't strike me as quite so pitiful except for the fact that he spends his whole day in starbucks and talks to whoever he can about how many hits his twitter gets. this is only accentuated by his ponytail, gym shorts, and tevas. blech. please get a real job!! save us all the embarrassment!

moving on. i have fallen in love with our wedding plans. i absolutely love the feeling that we're going for. i think scott and i are both very personable, artsy, and passionate people and we want that to be reflected in a day that celebrates us joining together. i think our wedding will have a very indie feel, anything we can create ourselves, we will. any way that we can sidestep, dodge, or dismantle anything wedding industry - related we will jump for joy over. i want this wedding to reflect us as best as it possibly can, and if that means more elbow grease, i'm all for it. the more hand-made and creative we can be, the better.

and on that note, i have some projects i must get to! i'm having a blast making lists of ideas and things to do and research.

scott's next project is our website ~ we decided after he finishes his current project and our website, he will reward himself with a new x-box 360. hey - if the website gets done, and i get to play racing games with him in the end, i am a happy camper.
